CLEMSON, S.C. – The No. 16 ranked Clemson men’s soccer heads to Columbia, S.C. to take on in-state rival, South Carolina on Friday, August 28th, for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+. The Tigers broke into the rankings this week coming in at No. 3 by TopDrawerSoccer, No. 13 by College Soccer News and No. 16 by United Soccer Coaches.
The Tigers started the season with a 5-1 win over No. 3 ranked Furman on Thursday night. Sophomore Xander Sevian led the offense with his first career brace with senior Mason Jimenez, junior Ransford Gyan and freshman Johannes Kack netting goals in route to Clemson's first win of the season. On Sunday, Clemson wrapped up its opening weekend with a 2-0 win over ETSU. Sophomore Cooper Hineline got the Tiger offense going after a calm first half with his first career goal. Duncan Wilson netted the second goal of the match for the Tigers to secure the win over ETSU on Sunday.
Clemson and South Carolina have met 54 times in history, with the Tigers leading with a 35-17-2 record over the Gamecocks. The Tigers and Gamecocks last faced off in 2025 at Historic Riggs Field and Clemson took home the win 4-1.
