CLEMSON, S.C. — Former Clemson All-American Jacob Bridgeman finished in ninth place with a 72-hole score of nine-under-par 271 at the BMW Championship on Sunday and qualified for the FedExCup Tour Championship next week. Bridgeman is one of 30 players who will compete for the Tour Championship, August 27-30 at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga.
Bridgeman finished ninth at the BMW at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, Mo. after rounds of 66-72-66-67 on the par 70 course. He will be the No. 13 ranked qualifier for next week’s Tour Championship.
Bridgeman has now qualified for the Tour Championship each of the last two years. The native of Inman, S.C. finished tied for 27th last year with a score of even-par 280. Bridgeman is one of five former Tigers to reach the Tour Championship. Lucas Glover has done it five times, Bridgeman, Jonathan Byrd and Kyle Stanley twice each, and D.J. Trahan once.
Bridgeman is the third former Tiger to qualify for the Tour Championship in consecutive years, the first to do it since Stanley in 2017 and 2018. Bridgeman’s No. 13 ranking is the third best by a former Tiger entering the Tour Championship. Glover was fifth entering the 2023 Tour Championship and finished 18th. Glover was seventh entering the 2019 event and finished 29th. The best performance at the Tour Championship is eighth place by Glover at the 2006 Tour Championship.
An All-American at Clemson between 2018-22, Bridgeman won the Genesis Championship in Los Angeles earlier this year. He had three top 5 finishes. The BMW was his fifth Top 10 and his 10th top 25. He made the cut in 21 of his 22 tournaments. He ranks first on the PGA Tour in strokes gained putting and is second in par four scoring average (3.95).
