AUBURN, Ala. - No. 25 Clemson women’s soccer (0-0-1) tied Auburn (0-0-1), 0-0, on Wednesday evening in Auburn to open the 2026 slate.
“It was a typical first-game of the season,” said Head Coach Eddie Radwanski. “We were a little sloppy in the first half because of nerves but really happy with the turnaround in the second half. We got on top of possessions and created some chances that we would have liked to stick away. Defensively, it was a great performance. We got the clean sheet and didn’t concede anything which is a major objective of our group this year. (I’m) proud of the response in the second half and how we took the game to Auburn. A draw on the road is not a bad result, and we will go back, recover and get ready for Sunday’s game.”
Clemson maintained possession for roughly 51 minutes of play and finished with six corner kicks compared to Auburn’s four. The Tigers put up six shots throughout the 90-minute contest that had junior Anna Castenfelt tallying four total, including two on goal. Sophomore Taylor Leib and senior Dani Davis added the two additional shot attempts for Clemson. In goal, graduate Nona Reason made four saves throughout the contest.
The two programs combined for five total shots in the first half. Auburn got the first two looks, putting shots on goal in both the ninth and 19th minute of action. Reason made both stops with the first being a quick reaction catch off a header attempt, and the second on a lower corner block. Clemson answered with two attempts of its own with shots from Leib and Castenfelt. Auburn got off one additional shot, but neither side was able to capitalize to remain even at the half.
Clemson’s control in the second half began at the 61-minute mark after a corner attempt led to a shot going wide of the goal off the right foot of Davis. Castenfelt got her foot on a shot less than a minute later that also missed wide. Castenfelt followed with back-to-back shots on goal that were both saved by Auburn’s Ayana Yapo. Defensively, Reason made a save in the second half to keep things level which led to the 0-0 draw.
