CLEMSON, S.C. — Former Clemson golfer Austin Langdale, won the 95th South Carolina Amateur Golf Championship at Quixote Golf Club in Sumter, S.C. on Sunday with a score of eight-under-par 272 on the par 70 layout.

Current Clemson golfer Tip Price finished fifth after a strong final round of three under par 67. He moved up 16 spots with that final round performance. The native of Greenville, S.C. had rounds of 76-67-71-67 for his 281 total, one over par.

Langdale is the first former or current Clemson golfer to win the South Carolina Amateur since 2017 when Gregg Jones, a starter on Clemson’s 2003 National Championship team, won the title. Overall, Langdale is the 13th different current or former Clemson golfer to win the South Carolina Amateur. Lucas Glover has the most victories at the event with three, earned in 1998, 1999 and 2000.

Langdale had scores of 70-66-65-71 for his victory by two shots over Samual Jackson of West Columbia. Langdale, from Easley, S.C., had a five shot lead after three rounds and enlarged it to seven on the opening nine on Sunday before Jackson finished strong to cut the margin to two.

Langdale had one birdie and two bogeys on Sunday on his way to his one over par score of 71.

Langdale played for the Tigers from 2013-17, earning first-team All-ACC honors for the 2015-16 academic year. He was also first-team all-district and honorable mention All-American that year when he was second on the team in stroke average with a 72.21 average. He had four top 10 finishes that year when he had 13 under-par rounds.

The highlight of that year was Langdale’s fourth place finish at the ACC Tournament, a big reason the Tigers won the team title. He also finished ninth at the 2014 ACC Tournament and 11th in 2015.

Langdale won the South Carolina Junior Amateur Championship in 2011 and is the fifth Clemson golfer to win both the South Carolina junior Amateur and the South Carolina Amateur. Jones, Glover, Mark Swygert and Tommy Biershenk also accomplished the feat.
