CLEMSON, S.C. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its annual regional awards for the outdoor track and field season Thursday afternoon with Clemson’s Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Mark Elliott and Shantae Foreman receiving honors.

Elliott earned the USTFCCCA NCAA DI Outdoor Track & Field Southeast Women’s Coach of the Year, and Foreman garnered the USTFCCCA NCAA DI Outdoor Track & Field Southeast Women’s Field Athlete of the Year.

Elliott led the women’s team to an ACC title in May, sweeping both the indoor and outdoor conference championships. Elliott, who directly oversees the mid-distance group, had two athletes (Gladys Chepngetich and Judy Kosgei) qualify for NCAA Outdoor Nationals in the 800 meters and saw Chepngetich earn First Team All-American.

At the ACC Outdoor Championships, Foreman collected 18 points between her runner-up finish in the long jump and her ACC Individual Championship in the triple jump. At NCAA Outdoor Nationals, Foreman set school records in the long and triple jumps. She finished second in the long jump (6.69m) before turning around to win the triple jump two days later. Foreman led the triple jump for rounds two through four (14.01 meters) before Oregon’s Sharifa Davronova dethroned Foreman with 14.15 meters. On her last jump, Foreman capped off her Clemson career by shattering the triple jump school record with 14.24 meters and claiming the NCAA outdoor individual title. Foreman finished the outdoor season as a two-time First Team All-American, earning the honor in each the long and triple jumps.
