BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 15 Clemson Gymnastics team posted its best score away from home in program history, a 197.150, but was edged on the final routine by No. 7 Stanford in the Baton Rouge Regional Final at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center for the final spot to advance. Clemson was in search of its first trip to Nationals, but fell just 0.075 points shy. No. 2 LSU posted a 197.825 to advance, and No. 10 Michigan finished fourth with a 196.750. 

Clemson’s historic 2026 at season drew to a close in the meet as a team, as the top two teams from the Regional advanced, though Clemson has a possible individual competitor on Floor at nationals in Brie Clark. Individual selections will be officially announced Monday. 

Clemson won the ACC Championship by 0.025 over the Cardinal on Mar. 21, and Saturday served as a dramatic rematch of that encounter. First-year Co-Head Coaches Justin Howell and Elisabeth Crandall-Howell guided the team to new heights in just its third competitive season. 

Clemson and Stanford were tied at 147.900 heading into the final rotation on the heels of its seventh-best floor score (49.425) in history and its second-best vault score ever (49.300). The Cardinal posted a 49.325 on vault, including a 9.950 on the final routine. Clemson posted a 49.250 on bars, including a 9.900 from Cesario and 9.875s from Lilly Lippeatt and Emma Malewski

Graduate Ella Cesario posted the second-highest All-Around score in program history, a 39.525, behind three 9.900s on floor, vault and bars, and also added a 9.825 on beam.

Rotation 1 - Beam: 49.175

Clemson opened on beam and was led in the rotation by freshman Emma Malewski, who scored a career-high-tying 9.900 in the third position, while Brie Clark added a 9.850. Tara Walsh and Ella Cesario each contributed 9.825s and Quinn Kuhl added a 9.775 as Clemson counted four scores of 9.825 or higher in the rotation. Clemson’s 49.175 was the 11th-highest mark in program history and was higher than its 2026 ACC Championship performance (49.125). 

Rotation 2 – Floor (49.425) - Seventh best in program history

The Tigers responded with a 49.425 on floor, their highest score of the meet. Brie Clark anchored the lineup with a 9.950, while Ella Cesario followed with a 9.900. Maggie Holman added a 9.875, and Lilly Lippeatt and Tara Walsh each contributed 9.850s as Clemson counted five scores of 9.850 or higher.

Rotation 3 – Vault (49.300) - Second best in program history

Clemson posted a 49.300 on vault in the third rotation. Ella Cesario and Tara Walsh led the Tigers with matching 9.900s, while Madison Minner added a 9.850. Brie Clark and Maggie Holman each contributed 9.825s as Clemson counted five scores of 9.825 or higher.

Rotation 4 - Bars (49.250)

Clemson closed the meet on uneven bars with a 49.250. Cesario led the rotation with a 9.900, while Lippeatt and Malewski each added 9.875s. Hannah Clark and Takoda Berry contributed 9.800s as the Tigers secured their final total.
