CLEMSON, S.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its end of year ACC awards Wednesday evening, naming Clemson’s Alexa Spallina as the ACC Freshman of the Year.

Spallina delivered one of the most prolific debut seasons in the nation and the most productive campaign in Clemson history. Spallina finished her freshman year with 104 points, ranking No. 2 in the ACC and No. 4 nationally. She became the first player in program history to record 100 points in a season, surpassing the previous Clemson single‑season high of 73. Her 5.61 points per game ranked second in the ACC and seventh in the NCAA.

A dynamic distributor, Spallina led the ACC and ranked No. 2 nationally with 67 assists, averaging 3.61 per game. She broke Clemson’s career, single‑season and freshman assists records in her first year, shattering the previous program mark of 42.

Spallina also scored 37 goals, including nine on free‑position attempts, to round out one of the top offensive seasons in the country.

Her standout year also earned her First Team All‑ACC honors, an Inside Lacrosse Nike Midseason Media Honorable Mention All‑America selection and an ACC Offensive Player of the Week recognition on April 7. She entered the year as one of the nation’s top newcomers, ranking No. 4 on ILWomen’s Early‑Season Freshman Impact Rankings.

Spallina produced several of the best single‑game performances in Clemson history. She set a program record with 13 points against Davidson on March 31, breaking her own previous mark of 10 set earlier in the season. Ten of her 13 points came on assists, also a Clemson record. She currently holds the top three single‑game point totals in program history and the top five single‑game assist totals.
