PHILADELPHIA – Clemson concluded day two of the Penn Relays with a slate of standout performances across the board Friday, highlighted by event wins, personal bests and multiple qualifying marks in preliminary rounds.
Sharvis Simmonds and Khailan Vitalis advanced out of the men’s 110m hurdles prelims, finishing second in 13.73 seconds and fifth in 13.85, respectively. In the women’s 100m hurdles, Briana Campbell clocked a personal‑best 13.25 to take third and secure her spot in the next round.
Clemson’s relay units delivered strong showings as well. The men’s 4x100‑meter squad of Ayomide Oyetunji, Ian Johnson, Kevin Collins and Jalen Johnson placed second in 39.48 to qualify for the final. The women’s 4x100 team of Aleksandra Stoilova, Aniyah Kitt, McKenzie Calloway and Briana Campbell matched that finish, running 43.76.
The Tigers claimed a victory in the men’s 4x200, with I. Johnson, J. Johnson, Grant Holliday and Collins combining for a winning time of 1:21.52. The women’s 4x200 quartet (Stoilova, Calloway, Sadé Gray and Makhaila Mills) finished fourth in 1:32.94. Clemson added two more top‑four relay finishes with a third‑place 3:45.20 in the women’s sprint medley (Aniyah Kitt, Campbell, Shanque Williams and Judy Kosgei) and a fourth‑place 10:48.86 in the women’s distance medley (Nancy Cherop, Williams, Shaneal Clarke Giddings and Kosgei).
In the field events, Danielle Noble delivered one of the day’s top highlights, winning the women’s high jump at 1.75m, matching her personal best and tying her own mark for sixth on Clemson’s all‑time list. Jacob Carruthers tied for eighth in the men’s high jump at 2.01m.
Tia Stapleton placed 12th in the women’s long jump (5.67m), while Sophia Curtis earned fourth in the triple jump at 12.31m. In the pole vault, Matthew Phillips cleared 4.87m for fourth on the men’s side, with Drake Risser tying for 12th at 4.72m. Ava Allen tied for 12th in the women’s pole vault at 3.60m.
Matthew Auble added another major performance in the men’s discus, throwing a personal‑best 51.96m to finish fourth and move to ninth on Clemson’s all‑time list. Chase Edwards placed 21st at 47.96m. Christina Barnett rounded out the day with an eighth‑place finish in the women’s discus at 46.31m.
