Tallahassee, Fla. – No. 9/9 Clemson Lacrosse (13-4, 7-3 ACC) topped Florida St. (4-12, 0-10 ACC), 16-7, at the Seminole Lacrosse Complex on Thursday afternoon. The Tigers earned their 50th win in program history and extended their program-record win streak to 10 games.

Four Clemson performers recorded a hat trick, led by Freshman attack Marleigh O’Day with four goals. The trio of junior midfielder Natalie Shurtleff, sophomore attack Brook Goldstein, and junior attack Regan Byrne each netted three goals apiece. Freshman attack Alexa Spallina recorded a team-best four assists for the Tigers. Graduate midfielder Maddigan Miller had three caused turnovers. Sophomore defender Kira Balis recorded eight draw controls, and Shurtleff added six. 

FIRST QUARTER | 4-2, CLEMSON

The Seminoles struck first, scoring the first two goals across the first three minutes of play. Eight minutes later Goldstein scored back-to-back goals to even the score. Freshman midfielder Emma Penczek and Byrne tacked on two more goals, which pushed Clemson’s advantage to 4-2 at the end of the opening frame.

SECOND QUARTER | 8-6, CLEMSON

Byrne and Shurtleff both scored back-to-back goals for the Tigers, which were sandwiched around a quartet of goals made by Florida St. With under 10 seconds to go, Penczek scored her second goal of the day, which gave Clemson a two-goal advantage heading into the break.

THIRD QUARTER | 11-6, CLEMSON

CU used the third stanza to extend its scoring streak to four straight goals. O’Day scored back-to-back goals, and Shurtleff scored her second goal of the contest.

FOURTH QUARTER | 16-7, CLEMSON

In the final frame of action, Clemson outscored Florida St. five to one. Byrne, Shurtleff, O’Day, junior attack Jasmine Stanton, and Goldstein all found the next for the Tigers en route to victory.
