CLEMSON, S.C. - Behind a strong performance across singles play No. 22 Clemson Women’s Tennis (15-4, 5-2 ACC) defeated Florida State (4-13, 0-7 ACC) 4-2 on Friday night at Duckworth Family Tennis Facility.

On court three, Sophomores Artemis Aslanisvili and Sophie Clayton fell 6-2 to Cade Cricchio and M.B. Deatherage to move the match to 1-0 in favor of Florida State. The No. 29 ranked pair of Senior Jade Groen and Freshman Rinon Okuwaki tied the match at 1-1 with a 6-4 win over Eva Shaw and Abby Kelliher on court one. It all came down to court two with Sophomore Talia Neilson-Gatenby and Senior Romana Cisovska to take the doubles point but, ultimately the pair fell 6-4 to Kristyna Lavickova and Tina Li.

In singles play, Neilson-Gatenby added the first singles point of the day for the Tigers with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Kristyna Lavickova on court four to tie the match 1-1. Not long after, No. 62 Okuwaki pushed Clemson ahead 2-1 over the Seminoles with a commanding 6-1, 6-3 win over Eva Shaw to remain undefeated in singles this season. On court three, Cisovska fell to Tina Li 6-2, 6-1 to tie the match at two all. Junior Ria Bhakta put the Tigers up 3-2 on the Seminoles with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Cade Cricchio on court six. It all came down to courts two and five to earn the win for Clemson. Aslanisvili clinched the win for the Tigers after a ruthless performance on court five with a 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 win over Abby Kelliher. At the time of the clinch M.B. Deatherage led Groen 6-4, 0-6, 5-4.

UP NEXT: Clemson is back at Duckworth Family Tennis Facility Sunday, March 29 to face off with No. 32 Miami at 12 p.m. Prior to the match on Sunday, the Tigers will recognize seniors Romana Cisovska and Jade Groen in honor of Senior Day.
