CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson will compete in The Hootie at Bulls Bay, March 22-24. It will be Clemson’s first appearance in the tournament since 2013 and the sixth appearance overall. Clemson’s best finish is second out of 15 teams in 2008, the year Clemson finished fifth in the nation.

The field includes teams from the ACC, the Big 10, the SEC and the Big 12. The 13-team field includes four of the top 50 and six of the top 60 teams in the nation according to the latest Spikemark college rankings. 

Clemson is the highest ranked team at #37, while Kansas is #39, South Carolina #43 and Purdue #45. Other teams in the field include Furman, East Tennessee State, Winthrop, West Virginia, Missouri, Florida Gulf Coast, Kent State, UT Chattanooga and Coastal Carolina.

Oscar Bredkjaer leads the Clemson lineup with a 71.71 stroke average. He has a pair of top 10 finishes and a team best six rounds in the 60s. The transfer from San Francisco was Clemson’s top golfer at The Hayt with a ninth-place finish thanks to a season best 209 score for 54 holes.

Lucas Augustsson has the second best stroke average on the Clemson team at 72.80. The senior also has a pair of top 10 finishes this year. He is coming off a three-under-par 213 performance at The Hayt. He had three rounds at par or better for the first time this year.  

Sophomores Colin Salema and Rich Wills both will be in the lineup at The Hootie. Wills is third on the team in stroke average this year at 72.83 for his 18 rounds. He had a 10th-place finish at Marquette in the fall when Clemson won the team title.  Salema has a 73.57 stroke average. He has had consecutive top 20 finishes.  His best performance was a third-place at Marquette.

Senior Thomas Higgins has a team best three top 10s this season in six events. This will be his 34th career tournament. He is a veteran of 95 career rounds and has 22 career rounds under par, most among active Tigers. He has a 73.29 stroke average this year, 73.44 for his career.

Freshman Same Duran will compete in the event as an individual.

Clemson enters this tournament with a 55-47-2 record. The Tigers finished eighth out of 16 teams in its most recent tournament The Hayt. It was a solid performance as the field included eighth of the top 25 teams in the nation.
