CLEMSON, S.C. – No. 34 Clemson (6-9, 2-2 ACC) took down No. 53 Florida State (8-9, 0-5 ACC), 4-1, in a conference matchup at Duckworth on Friday evening. The win over the Seminoles was the Tigers’ first since 2022.

The Tigers started the match strong with Henrik Bladelius and Marko Mesarovic picking up a 6-2 victory over the Seminoles’ Lyons and Alkotop in 24 minutes before each of the final two doubles matches went to a tiebreaker. On court one, Schiessl and Sebesta outlasted Viktor Markov and Noa Vukadin, 7-6(5). Matisse Farzam and Yannic Nittmann held off a comeback effort by Ezerzer and Hornung, defeating them 7-6(3) to clinch the doubles point for the Tigers.

Florida State struck first in singles action with Vukadin falling to Craig in two sets. Mesarovic regained the lead shortly after, defeating Hornung 6-4, 6-1 in just over an hour. Farzam followed that up with a 6-4, 6-1 victory of his own to double the Tigers’ lead and put them within a point of clinching. On court six, Nittman and Lyons were in a back-and-forth battle. Nittmann took the first set, 6-4. In the second set, Nittmann jumped out to a 5-1 lead before Lyons won five straight games to go up 6-5. On set point, Lyons called a ball out to extend the match, but was overruled to tie the set at 6-6 and send the set into a tiebreaker. The call marked the third time Lyons had been overruled, which then turned into a game penalty.
