CLEMSON, S.C. – No. 16 Clemson (3-3) fell to No. 1 Virginia (7-1), 4-0, in the opening round of the ITA National Indoors on Friday.
The Tigers dropped the doubles point after the pairs of Noa Vukadin / Manuel Plunger and Yannic Nittmann / Matisse Farzam each fell 6-4. In singles, Clemson’s Marko Mesarovic (3-6, 6-4, 1-0), Vukadin (7-5, 4-3) and Farzam (6-3, 5-3) were all locked in competitive matches before play was halted once Virginia secured the clinching points.
DOUBLES (FINISHED 2, 3*)
- Brockett / Dietrich (UVA) and Markov / Bladelius (CU) did not finish, 6-6(7-6).
- Dahlberg / Kim (UVA) defeated Vukadin / Plunger (CU), 6-4.
- Santamarta Roig / Rice (UVA) defeated Nittmann / Farzam (CU), 6-4.
SINGLES (FINISHED 1, 6, 5*)
- Dietrich (UVA) defeated Markov (CU), 6-3, 6-3.
- Vukadin (CU) and Rice (UVA) did not finish, 7-5, 4-3.
- Farzam (CU) and Santamarta Roig (UVA) did not finish, 6-3, 5-3.
- Kim (UVA) and Mesarovic (CU) did not finish, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0.
- Brockett (UVA) defeated Bladelius (CU), 7-6(6), 6-0.
- Dahlberg (UVA) defeated Chérié Lignière (CU), 6-4, 6-2.
