CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson’s cross country squad will split this Friday, Oct. 17 between the Pre-Nationals Invitational and the Crimson Classic. The Pre-Nationals meet, originally scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18, was moved up a day due forecasted weather conditions.

The women will travel to Columbia, Mo., for Pre-Nationals 6K, while the men head to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the Crimson Classic 8K. The men’s race is scheduled for 8:30 a.m., followed by the women’s race at 10 a.m. Live results for both races will be available via PT Timing at clemsontigers.com, and Pre-Nationals will be available for streaming on SEC+.

Season Highlights

  • The Tiger women placed second in the 5K, while the men placed fourth in the 8K at the Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic
    • Silvia Jelelgo placed second overall with a time of 15:45.6, shattering her Eye Opener 5K time of 16:33.9.
    • Jelelgo was the first collegiate athlete to finish and one of three runners to break the previous meet record of 16:06.0.
    • Gladys Chepngetich made her 2025 fall debut, finishing fourth with a time of 16:34.6.
    • Gideon Kiplimo was the top finisher for the men, placing 19th with a time of 24:10.9.
  • In both the Eye Opener & Furman Invitational, the women’s team placed first, and the men’s team finished second.
    • Jelelgo won both women’s races, finishing approximately 40 seconds (Eye Opener) and 47 seconds (Furman Invitational) ahead of the runner-up.
    • Jelelgo’s performance at the Furman Invitational earned her ACC Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
  • Brenden Gomez was the top performer for the Tiger men in the first two races, finishing sixth overall at the Furman Invitational (four miles, 19:14.36) and seventh overall at the Eye Opener (5K, 24:48.9).
