The past week was a busy time for alumni of the Clemson men’s soccer program! A game-winning goal, a player going on loan for the season and an alumnus set to coach in the final of the MLS is Back Tournament are just a few of the highlights!
MLS Recap
Joe Bendik was a part of the Philadelphia Union’s squad as they took on the Portland Timbers in the semifinal round of the MLS is Back Tournament. Portland won the match via a 2-1 result. The Timbers will head to the final of the Tournament with a former member of the Clemson men’s soccer program, Miles Joseph, serving as an assistant coach with the squad.
Tanner Dieterich went on loan to Chattanooga Red Wolves SC from Nashville SC for the rest of the 2020 season. Chattanooga plays in USL League One.

USL Championship
Phanuel Kavita and Saint Louis FC played in two matches this past week. Kavita scored a goal in the final minute of the match to draw his side level with Sporting KC II in the midweek contest. On Saturday, Kavita played a full 90 minutes with the captain’s armband and contributed four clearances, a blocked shot and two interceptions as a member of the defensive unit.

Malick Mbaye was a member of the roster for North Carolina FC as his side earned a 1-0 victory over Memphis 901 FC.
Kyle Murphy started for the Rowdies at forward, logging 63 minutes of action as his side went on to win via a 3-0 result.
Cody Mizell played a full match in goal for New Mexico United in the team’s match against Phoenix Rising FC.
International
Diego Campos and Iman Mafi each earned the start for FK Jerv during their match against Kongsvinger. After being named the league’s Player of the Month, Campos picked up where he left off and scored his side’s lone goal.
