Aliute’s Rowing Journey
Aliute joined the Clemson Rowing team in 2016 as a recruited athlete. In her sophomore season she rowed in the 1V8. During her junior campaign, Aliute helped the 1V8 break the school record for overall best time by a boat and best 1V8 time, clocking in at 5:40.7 at the Cardinal Invite. Additionally, Aliute was part of the two boats that hold the second and third best overall and 1V8 times. At the ACC Championship, Aliute was named second-team All-ACC as one of just two Tigers to garner honors at the regatta.
Aliute excelled in the classroom as well, earning ACC Honor Roll in all four years and a CRCA Scholar Athlete nod in the 2018 season. Additionally, Aliute has earned the Hampton A Whetsell Scholarship and in 2019 she received undergraduate research initiative funding from CAFLS.
In February, it was announced that Aliute was a recipient of the Weaver-James-Corrigan Postgraduate Scholarship, an honor bestowed upon a graduating athlete who intends to pursue a graduate degree post-graduation. Just one of two recipients from Clemson, Aliute was the only rower out of 50 honorees and is the first Clemson rower to receive the award since Anna Skochdopole in 2016. Aliute will be continuing her education this fall at Clemson where she is pursuing her masters’ degree in Animal and Veterinary Sciences.
Prior to her career at Clemson, Aliute earned High Point Rowing team’s Rookie of the Year award in 2014 as well as MVP for the team in 2015. From 2015-16 Aliute served as the captain of the women’s varisty rowing team at High Point Rowing. In high school, Aliute graduated Summa Cum Laude and was part of National Honors Society, Tri-M Honors Society, Sociedad Honoraria Española, and Duke Tip for Gifted Students. Additionally, from 2013-16, Aliute earned the academic excellence award with the highest distinction.
