BLACKSBURG, Va. – Simon Baudry earned his first win over a ranked singles opponent of the 2019 season, but the Clemson men’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Virginia Tech on Friday afternoon on the road in Blacksburg, Va. With the loss, the Tigers fell to 8-11 (1-5 ACC), while the Hokies improved to 11-5 (2-3 ACC).

Virginia Tech claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 3 and No. 1, in that order, and opened singles play with three consecutive wins, at No. 3, No. 6 and No. 2, to clinch the match with four points. Junior Simon Baudry put the lone Clemson point on the board with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles. Baudry upset 56th-ranked Jason Kros in the victory, earning his first win over a ranked opponent this spring.
