Clemson, S.C.—Turk Pettit fired a bogey free 68 and freshman Jacob Bridgeman shot his second straight three-under-par 69 to lead Clemson to the lead after two rounds of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational in Alpharetta, Georgia. Clemson has a one-shot advantage over Wake Forest entering Sunday’s final round.
The Tigers have a team score of 556, 20-under-par through 36 holes. The Demon Deacons are second at 557 and Southern California is third at 558. Georgia Tech, the host school, shot 18-under par in the first round, but slumped to a one-over par score of 289 on Saturday and stands in fourth place at 559. Fifth ranked Alabama is in fifth place at 564 and second ranked Duke is sixth at 568.
Clemson sophomore Turk Pettit had his second consecutive 68 on Saturday and his eight under-par score stands in second place in the 75-player field entering Sunday’s final round. Pettit is two just shots behind Justin Suh of Southern California. Pettit has nine birdies and just one bogey through 36 holes.
Bridgeman had his second straight three-under par and is in eighth place after 36 holes. The rookie made three consecutive birdies on holes 7,8 and 9 and also birdied the 15th hole. He had just one bogey, on the sixth hole. He is one of just four players in the field to shoot in the 60s each of the first two rounds.
