Clemson, S.C.— Freshman Ivy Shepherd fired a two-under par to lead Clemson to a 283 team score on Saturday at the Schooner Fall Classic at the Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Oklahoma. Clemson stands ninth in the 15-team field entering Sunday’s final round.

Clemson is ninth after 36 holes with a 569. Alabama holds the lead at 534, 34-under par on the par 71 course. Clemson is just 11 shots out of fourth place.

Shepherd is the top Tiger with her two-under par 69. She had three birdies and just one bogey on the 6,048 yard course. The Clemson freshman is tied for 13th with a 138, shooting a 69 in both the first two rounds. Saturday’s round was her third round out of the four thus far in the season with a score in the 60s.

Freshman Alexandra Swayne supported Shepherd with a 70, her best round as a Tiger, thanks to three birdies on the back nine after shooting two-over on the front nine. Senior Alice Hewson finished the second 18 even and is tied 25th with a 141.

“I felt like we played a little better today, but conditions were softer and the entire field improved,” said head coach Kelley Hester. “We did a lot of things well but left a bunch out there. Need to improve on our par five scoring and take advantage of birdie opportunities.”

The final round of the 54-hole tournament will conclude on Sunday with the final 18 holes.
