Clemson, S.C.—Ivy Shepherd shot a two-under par 69 and Alice Hewson scored a one-under 70 to lead Clemson to a 286 team score. The Tigers stand in fifth-place at the 15-team Schooner Fall Classic at the University of Oklahoma.

Alabama and Texas share the first round lead with a 272 score, twelve-under par. Baylor is third at 278, while Florida State is fourth at 282. The Tigers and Texas A&M are fifth with a 286, one shot higher than Oregon and Wisconsin at 287.

Shepherd fired off a two-under par 69 in the opening round of the Schooner Fall Classic. The freshman had five birdies and three bogeys to lead the Tigers. She is in a tie for 10th in the individual race. It is the second straight tournament Shepherd has fired a 69, as she shot a 69 in her collegiate debut at the Mason Rudolph tournament last weekend.

Hewson was just two shots back of Shepherd and the others with a one-under par 70. The senior from England is currently tied for 16th after a first round with four birdies and three bogeys. Gracyn Burgess also contributed for the Tigers with a round of 73, while Alexandra Swayne and Ana Paula Valdes both shot a 74.

The 54-hole tournament continues on Saturday with 18 more holes.
