CLEMSON, SC – The 13th-ranked Clemson women’s tennis team will travel to Columbia on Saturday to take on the #47 Gamecocks in a match that is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. The Tigers will return home on Sunday to play host to 14th-ranked Virginia Commonwealth. The match against the Rams will be held at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center and will begin at 12:00 p.m.

Clemson is 2-0 overall, after opening the season with a 6-1 win over College of Charleston and a 4-3 victory over #32 Baylor. The Tigers are ranked 13th according to the ITA poll released on Feb. 10, which is the highest ranking for a Clemson team since the 1994 season.

The Tigers are 16-21 in the series against the Gamecocks. Last season, Clemson upset then-18th-ranked South Carolina by a score of 6-1 at home, defeating the Gamecocks for the first time since the 1996 season. This season, South Carolina (#47) is 3-1 overall, most recently falling to Michigan by a score of 5-2 in Ann Arbor.

Sunday’s match between Clemson and Virginia Commonwealth will be the first meeting between the two teams. The 14th-ranked Rams are 6-0 so far this season, recording a 4-3 victory over Old Dominion last weekend. VCU will play host to #26 Notre Dame on Friday before traveling to Clemson for Sunday’s match against the Tigers.
