Clemson, SC — The Clemson men’s tennis team has been ranked 27th in the nation according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll released on Tuesday.
The Tigers are currently 6-2 on the season following a win and a loss this past weekend. Clemson defeated Toledo 7-0 on Saturday morning before falling to 15th-ranked Ohio State later Saturday evening. Clemson’s other loss came at the hands of sixth-ranked UCLA, which climbed in the polls and is currently ranked second in the nation.
In addition to Toledo, Clemson has registered victories over No. 72 UC-Irvine, Liberty, Anderson College, The Citadel, and College of Charleston. The Tigers are led by junior Nathan Thompson ranked No. 31 in singles competition. Thompson and sophomore Jarmaine Jenkins are the 17th-ranked doubles team according to the ITA poll.
Clemson is under the leadership of head coach Chuck Kriese in his 29th season. Kriese holds a 571-358 record, and is ranked as the sixth winningest active coach in NCAA Division I. The two-time National Coach-of-the-Year has led the Tigers to 20 NCAA Tournament appearances.
