CLEMSON, S.C. –
Clemson United senior midfielder Joran Gerbet was tabbed the ACC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon.
“I’m incredibly proud of Joran being named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week. I thought it was a complete game on both sides of the ball [against North Carolina], and he was the best player on the ball and in the game,” Head Coach Mike Noonan said.
Gerbet led the Clemson Tigers to a stellar 3-2 win over No. 3 North Carolina, earning his first brace of the season. Gerbet netted the Tiger’s first goal of the night to level the score at 1-1 through a free kick. Despite the Tigers playing a man down for the majority of the second half, Gerbet’s second goal of the night, a penalty kick following a foul on Alex Meinhard in the box, pushed the Tigers ahead and ultimately allowed Clemson to claim a top-three win.
This honor marks Gerbet’s first ACC weekly accolade after transferring in the 2023 season from Oregon State. This is also the first time a Tiger has won an ACC weekly award since Ousmane Sylla claimed the ACC Offensive Player of the Week award in October 2023.
Next up, the Tigers will travel to Louisville to take on the Cardinals in an ACCN match at 8 p.m. on Friday, October 11.
