Morris Will Not Return in Fall

June 23, 2004

Kelvin Morris, a top reserve defensive player on Clemson’s 2002 football team, will not return to the team for the 2004 season. The WHIP linebacker from Timmonsville, SC is not eligible to compete for the Tigers this season and plans to transfer to a non-Division I school.

Morris missed last season after he suffered a torn ACL in the spring of 2003. During the 2002 season he played in all 13 games and started one game, the Tangerine Bowl game against Texas Tech. The 6-4 220-pounder finished the 2002 season with 44 tackles, including a career high 13 tackles against Texas Tech.

He had three tackles for loss, a sack and an interception during the 2002 season when he played 372 plays in the 13 games. He played the 2000 and 2001 seasons at Southwest Mississippi Junior College and had 71 tackles and nine sacks in 2001, a year in which he was named a JUCO All-American.
