CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia men’s swimming team defeated Clemson 151-92 in a dual meet on Saturday in Charlottesville. The Cavalier women’s team took a 130-113 win over the Tigers. Four Clemson swimmers recorded NCAA provisional qualifying times.
Senior Wendy Henson won the 200 free with a time of 1:50.11, a NCAA B Qualifying Standard. Junior Jennifer Mihalik, a 1998 All-American, won the 200 back with a provisional qualifying time of 1:59.73. Freshman Cami Sink qualified provisionally in the 200 IM after winning the event in 2:03.40. Junior Erin Schatz, an All-American last season, won two events, taking the 500 free in 4:54.69 and the 1000 free in 10:01.62.
For the men’s team, sophomore Razvan Petcu qualified provisionally after winning the 100 free with a time of 45.08. Petcu also won the 50 free, recording a time of 20.31. The 400 free relay team took first place with a time of 3:07.32
The Clemson swimming teams will compete at Virginia Tech Sunday at 1 p.m.
