United Soccer Coaches Release
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Clemson men’s soccer program has collected four All-South Region honors following the 2020-21 season, United Soccer Coaches announced on Tuesday afternoon. Kimarni Smith, Philip Mayaka, Grayson Barber andOskar Agren occupy four of the 33 spots among the South Region’s three teams. Over the past two seasons, Clemson has garnered nine All-South Region honors, signaling the highest two-year total in program history.
Smith is Clemson’s lone honoree on the South Region’s first team, as Barber and Mayaka have been named to the second team, and Agren has been tabbed as part of the third team. Smith and Mayaka collect All-Region honors for the second time in their careers after both receiving first-team recognition in 2019. Barber and Agren have each collected their first all-region honor following today’s announcement
Smith, Mayaka and Barber were members of the Tigers’ 2020 fall roster and all three players chose to pursue professional opportunities before the Tigers’ first match of the 2021 spring season. Mayaka signed a Generation adidas contract in January before being selected with the third pick during the 2021 MLS SuperDraft by the Colorado Rapids. Now a regular member of D.C. United’s starting XI, Smith departed Clemson after being picked fourth overall in this year’s draft. Barber signed a Homegrown Player contract with Sporting KC on Jan. 20, signaling the return to his former academy club to start his professional career.
United Soccer Coaches will announce this year’s All-America honors on Thursday, May 13. All-Region and All-America teams are selected through voting by member coaches in their respective divisions.
