Men’s DMR Earns Collegiate Section Win at Prestigious Penn Relays

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson traveled a small group of distance runners to the annual competition at the prestigious Penn Relays, and the Tigers returned with a victory in one of the men’s collegiate section relays and a school record in one of the women’s relays.

The team of Aaron Ramirez, Ryan Mangone, Daniel Dey and Ty McCormack combined to a winning time of 9:45.71 in the college section of the men’s distance medley relay on Friday. The Tigers held off Monmouth, Fordham and hometown favorite Penn to claim one of the famous wheels awarded to event winners at Franklin Field.

The women’s distance group established a school record in the 4×1500 relay. The team of Natalie Anthony, Brianna Blanton, Lisa Girard and Erin Barker combined to a time of 18:26.16 – breaking the previous school standard set in 1999. Anthony, who scored in both the 5K and 10K at last week’s ACC Championships, had the best leg with a time of 4:31.9. The team finished eighth in the championship of America section.

On Thursday, freshman Brianna Feerst competed in the collegiate section of the 3000-meter steeplechase. The New Jersey native posted a time of 11:02.06 and finished in 15th place. It was a personal best for Feerst.
