Men’s Basketball Drops Tight Contest to Old Dominion

ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands (AP) – Ben Finney and Frank Hassell scored 13 points apiece to help Old Dominion advance to the championship game of the Paradise Jam with a 61-60 defeat of Clemson on Sunday night.

The Monarchs (3-1) led 28-19 at halftime after holding the Tigers to 8-of-21 shooting (38.1 percent) and outrebounding Clemson 20-12.

The Tigers (3-1) began the second half on an 18-8 run to take a 1-point lead, 37-36, with 13:05 left to play. But Old Dominion answered with a run of its own, outscoring Clemson 15-6 over the next eight minutes to retake the lead, 51-43.

Demontez Stitt scored 18 of his game-high 24 points in the second half for the Tigers, but it wasn’t enough. Stitt was the only player in double figures for Clemson.

Keyon Carter chipped in with a double-double, 11 points and 10 rebounds, for the Monarchs.
