McDaniels, Tigers Advance to Second Round of NIT with 78-66 Victory over Georgia State

CLEMSON, S.C. – Playing in its first postseason game since 2011, Clemson put on an offensive display in front of an intimate crowd at Littlejohn Coliseum on Tuesday, winning 78-66 to advance to the second round of the NIT. The Tigers face the winner of Wednesday’s contest between Boston University and Illinois. Clemson hosts the winner of that contest on a date and time to be named later.

Clemson improved to 21-12 on the season with the win, its 10th straight home NIT win as a program. The Panthers finished their season at 25-9 overall.

K.J. McDaniels was in full first-team All-ACC mode Tuesday. The Tiger junior posted his ACC-leading sixth “20 & 10” game of the season – finishing with a stat line of 30 points and 14 rebounds, both tying career highs, and five blocked shots.

Damarcus Harrison and Jordan Roper both contributed big games for Clemson, who improved to 14-3 at home this season. Harrison produced 17 points and Roper added 11 and four assists in 27 minutes off the bench.
