Matt Walters Promoted to Associate Head Coach

Clemson, S.C. — Clemson Assistant Head Coach Matt Walters has been promoted to Associate Head Coach as announced by Head Coach Robbie Weiss on Friday afternoon.

“I am very excited to announce that I have promoted Matt Walters from Clemson Men’s Tennis Assistant Coach to Clemson Men’s Tennis Associate Head Coach,” stated Weiss. “Matt has done an outstanding job from day one and I feel that he deserves to have the title of Associate Head Coach. He has been an integral part of the program from the day he arrived at Clemson and I am incredibly fortunate to work alongside him each day. Matt is an outstanding coach and recruiter, but more importantly, he is an outstanding person who makes everyone around him better. I would like to thank Matt for all of his hard work, relentless work ethic and the passion he brings each day to the program.  I can’t thank him enough for joining me here at Clemson.  Go Tigers!”

Walters joined the Clemson men’s tennis staff in June 2019. During the 2019-20 season, he helped guide the program to its best season since 2016. Clemson was ranked as high as No. 40 by the ITA, its first top-50 ranking since 2015, and on Monday the Tigers’ incoming class was ranked No. 2 in the nation by tennisrecruiting.net.
