Clemson Hosts Florida State and Miami

CLEMSON, S.C – The Clemson Volleyball team will host two Florida teams this week taking on Florida State and  Miami in Jervey Gym. Friday’s match-up against Florida State is set for 7 p.m. before finishing the weekend Sunday against Miami with a 1 p.m. scheduled start. Both matches will be streamed on ACCNX.

The Tigers and Seminoles have met a total of 60 times previously, most recently in the spring of 2021 when the Seminoles secured a 3-0 victory. FSU leads the series 40-20 and comes into the match 16-5 (6-5 ACC), following a win against Syracuse on Sunday. Leading the Florida State attack is junior middle blocker Emma Clothier’s 2.71 kills per set and a team-best .348 hitting percentage. Junior setter Lilly Tesser adds 10.23 assists per set and ranks 4th in the ACC in that category.

The Hurricanes are coming into the contest 19-3 (10-2 ACC) and are on a five-game winning streak with recent victories over Syracuse and Boston College. Miami leads the overall series, 15-14, with the Hurricanes securing the previous match-up in 2020 with a 3-0 win. Outside hitter Angela Grieve leads the team with 3.79 kills per set and ranks 6th in the ACC. Junior middle blocker Janice Leao adds 1.42 blocks per set and ranks 3rd in the ACC in blocks.

After a 5-set loss to North Carolina, Clemson enters the competition with an 11-12 (3-9 ACC) record. Graduate transfer Kaylee Martin continues to set the offensive tone with a team-high 3.30 kills per set on 1,981 points. Martin is 19 points shy of recording her 2,000th career point. In addition, senior Mckenna Slavik has recorded 685 assists this season, pushing her up the rankings to 7th in Clemson Volleyball history in that category. She currently holds 2,535 assists in her career. While on the defensive end, freshman Devan Taylor maintains her dominance on the court by securing 3.85 digs per set on 287 digs this season. The Tigers’ offense features four players with 140-plus kills on the season in Martin, Camryn Hannah, Ani Clark and Cate Long.
