• Clemson opens the 2022 season hosting the Big Orange Bash in Jervey Gym
• The Tigers will face Austin Peay, Louisiana Tech and Presbyterian College
• The Tigers traveled to Athens, Georgia last weekend for an exhibition match against the Bulldogs

SLAVIK USA VOLLEYBAL

• Senior Mckenna Slavik spent a portion of her summer training with the USA Volleyball Collegiate National Team
• She was one of 38 players overall, one of three ACC players and one of six setters to be selected to participate
• She trained at the National Team Training Center in Anaheim, Calif. learning the USA systems and watching the Women’s National Team

FINNEY’S SUMMER EXPERIENCES

• Junior Colleen Finney was selected last spring to the Sports Business Classroom Business of Basketball Immersive Experience on a full scholarship on behalf of Meta to attend the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas
• The event was an educational experience aimed at identifying, developing and empowering the next generation of industry leaders in both basketball and sport
• Finney also spent a time with Clemson’s POWER in Chicago to gain experience in identity, professional presence, self-leadership and community from well-respected women in the Chicago area

SEVEN NEWCOMERS

• Head coach Jackie Simpson Kirr announced her inaugural signing class as head coach as Clemson with seven freshmen
• The newcomers include: Sophie Catalano, Brooklyn Conner, Mia McGrath, Becca Michelle, Mia Moore, Maggie Patterson and Caroline Sele

KIRR EXTENSION

• Head coach Jackie Simpson Kirr received a contract extension for the next three years
• Kirr was promoted to head coach prior to the 2021 season after previously serving as the associate head coach and recruiting coordinator for the Tigers for four seasons
• In her first season at the helm, Clemson began the 2021 season 10-3 to mark the best start in program history since 2014 and started 2-0 in ACC play for the first time since 2011
• Since arriving at Clemson, Kirr has helped guide the Tigers to their first postseason appearance since 2009 with an appearance in the NIVC in 2018
• She has brought in two recruiting classes that were given honorable mention recognition by the AVCA

AVCA ACADEMIC AWARD

• The volleyball team earned the 2021-22 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award after finishing with a 3.36 team GPA
• Last spring, every member of the program carried a 3.0 GPA or higher to boast a program-high 3.5 GPA for the semester
