CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Tigers women’s tennis team is set to play in a doubleheader matchup between Georgia State and Western Carolina at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility on Sunday, January 21. The match against the Panthers is slated to begin at 11 a.m., and the match against the Catamounts is set for 4 p.m.; both matches will be livestreamed.

“ I can’t wait to get back out there with the group; we need to take the appropriate time to recover and then look ahead to the two great programs that are coming in on Sunday,” head coach Boomer Saia said. “If we are not sharp and ready to go, they will be prepared to take the advantage, so we need to prepare like professionals do. The group has a lot of excitement after the win on Friday.”

Multiple Tigers are coming off of a great performance from Friday night’s win against ETSU. Alina Tsyurpalecyvh took down Daniel  Rovira 7-6(1), 6-4. The match marked Tsyurpalevych’s home debut and the first victory of the 2024 season for the freshman.

On court five, Sophia Hatton secured the second singles victory of the match as she defeated Alessandra Cacerres in an intense tiebreak, with Hatton taking the win 7-5, 7(7)-6(2).

In a thrilling three-set victory, Louka took down Sofia Markova 6-4, 7-6, 7(7)-6(3) to clinch the Tiger’s first win of the season and Saia’s first victory at Clemson.

Additionally, Friday night’s win served as Saia’s first win as the head coach since he took over the program in the summer of 2023.

This matchup between the Tigers and the Panthers will be the seventh matchup between the programs, and the last match was in 2013. Clemson leads the series 6-0. Against the Catamounts, the Tigers have won the last four matches, with the most recent win being in the 2022 season.
