Maryland defeats Clemson 3-0 in Men’s Soccer

COLLEGE PARK, MD–Maryland scored three second-half goals as the sixth-ranked Terrapins defeated 12th-ranked Clemson 3-0 in a men’s Atlantic Coast Conference soccer match at College Park, MD Friday night.

With the win, Maryland improves to 4-1 overall, while Clemson falls to 3-1-1 this season. This was the first ACC match of the season for both teams.

The Terrapins scored at the 52:34 mark as Robbie Rogers scored from 10 yards out on the right side with assists by Stephen King and Chris Lancos. It was Rogers’ second goal of the season.

Kenny Bertz scored his second goal of the season at the 61:21 point into the match. Maurice Edu served the ball to the top of the box from the corner. Bertz sent a shot from top of the 18-yard box into the goal for his second goal of the season.

The Terrapins scored with only :44 second left in the match (89:16) as Matt Beckman sent a shot from eight yards out after taking a cross from A.J. Godbolt.

Clemson will play host to Gardner-Webb on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Historic Riggs Field.
