Job Description

The Marketing and Fan Experience industry is of the utmost importance to college athletic departments as we help to generate revenue, build strong and loyal fan bases, and aim to deliver gameday experiences that are unmatched. To do so, it takes extraordinary individuals that bring energy, creativity, and passion for the impact they have on the experiences of our student-athletes, donors and alumni, and fan base.

Clemson University is seeking two (2) highly motivated individuals who want to earn an advanced degree in the classroom and receive comprehensive mentorship and exposure within the marketing and fan experience field. Candidates will serve as primary sport contacts of highly visible, highly-competitive programs, as well as serve in a support capacity with the department’s full-time employees. The students will be mentored by the Athletic Marketing & Fan Experience staff, with additional exposure to coaches, support staff, student-athletes and undergraduate students.

Interested students should have a bachelor’s degree in marketing, sports management, or another related fields; excellent communication (both verbal and written) across all levels of the department, and organizational skills; willingness to work evening, weekend and holiday hours; demonstrated experience in the field of marketing; strong computer skills; must be able to multitask and manage several projects simultaneously; display a creative mindset and willingness to think outside the box when it comes to marketing events and promotions.

Additional consideration will be given to those with experience using Adobe Creative Cloud (i.e. Photoshop, Premiere, InDesign, After Effects); Have worked with production software for videoboard, music, and lighting programs; Have experience with digital marketing (email communications, social)

Throughout this experience, the student will be provided opportunities to apply concepts and theories from the classroom to an intercollegiate athletic environment. Opportunities include:

  • Serving as the primary marketing contact for assigned sports, including on-field coordination at football.
  • Working collaboratively with communications and creative units to develop full marketing and promotions plans. Assist the CAPCO team on creating sponsorable assets and provide proof of performance where necessary.
  • Coordinating all aspects of game presentation, including script writing, timing sheets, in-game entertainment, halftime acts, national anthems, videoboard content, recognitions, and more. Working with vendors and external hires to properly staff home events (PA, DJ, Audio Techs).
  • Assisting with digital marketing strategy and execution.
  • Executing student engagement plans, including email communications, managing student engagement social platforms, on-campus promotions and student section integrations.
  • Serving as a leader to the 25+ marketing and fan experience interns. Oversee planning and engagement opportunities alongside the associate director o to create and execute a leading internship program in the college space.
  • Maintaining relationships with student-athletes, coaching staffs, and administrators.
  • Supporting the overall goals of the marketing and fan experience team as needed.
