Louka, Mayorova Snag All-ACC Academic Honors

Greensboro, N.C. — Sophomore Eleni Louka and freshman Cristina Mayorova have been named to the 2021 All-ACC Academic team, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning. Both student-athletes earn their first recognition.

An accounting major from Deryneia, Cyrpus, Louka earned a career best singles and doubles rankings, reaching as high as No. 50 in both categories. Louka’s best singles win of the season came on Feb. 20 when she defeated No. 27 Giulia Pairone of Florida State marking the first top-30 singles win of her career. Additionally, on Feb. 27. Louka, along with partner Jenna Thompson, defeated No. 5 Kenya Jones/Victoria Flores, notching their first top-5 win as a duo.

Mayorova, a communications major, played consistently for the Tigers all season and finished tied for second on the team in overall singles wins. Native to Barcelona, Spain, Mayorova earned two victories over nationally ranked opponents in singles, No. 104 Kylie Wilcox and No. 123 Gia Cohen.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
