Tempe, Az. — Eleni Louka and Jenna Thompson have made their debut in the singles and doubles rankings, as announced by the ITA on Wednesday afternoon. In doubles, the pair is ranked No. 58 while in singles, Louka sits at No. 50 and Thompson at No. 64. Full ITA singles and doubles rankings.
Earlier this season, Louka (6-10 overall) defeated No. 27 Giula Pairone of Florida State (now ranked No. 9) in straight sets. Over the course of the season, the sophomore has gone toe-to-toe with some of the best players in the country at the No. 1 position, including three ranked in the top-10 and 10 in the top-50. Thompson (11-9) picked up her first career ranked win on Jan. 28 with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over No. 93 Emma Shelton of South Carolina. Playing predominantly at No. 2 singles, the North Carolina native has faced seven nationally ranked opponents. As a doubles pair, Louka and Thompson are 6-8 on the season with wins over No. 5 Kenya Jones and Victoria Flores of Georgia Tech, and No. 58 Elizabet Danailova and Nika Kozar of Virginia. When up against ranked opponents the duo is 2-2 on the season.
The Tigers return to action at The Duckworth Family Tennis Facility on Friday, April 2 when they host Boston College at 4 p.m.
