Notre Dame, Ind. – Danielle Little and the Clemson women’s DMR squad led the way for the Clemson Track & Field program on the opening day of competition at the 2020 ACC Championships. The two events resulted in four points being earned for the women’s team.
“Our team showed up great,” said Mark Elliott, the Director of Clemson Track & Field. “We started off with a season’s best and by scoring a point in the weight throw. We then closed the day with a large season’s best by our relay… it just shows what we have in store.”
Little started the competition for the Tigers in the women’s weight throw, launching a season’s best mark of 18.32 meters (61-1.25) on her first throw of the competition. After the opening three throws, Little qualified for the finals in the eighth position and would remain in that spot when the event was finished.
The men’s DMR was the first event on the track for the Tigers, with the quartet of Danny Shaughnessy, Rayan Holmes, Malik Epps and Colt Griffith running 10:05.98 in the opening heat of the event. The men’s team placed ninth overall in the competition.
The women’s DMR, comprised of Laurie Barton, Kamryn McIntosh, Andrea Foster and Logan Morris, placed sixth overall in an exhilarating race. The quartet registered a season’s best mark by nearly eight seconds, running 11:19.76.
The Clemson Track & Field program will return to action at the ACC Championships tomorrow starting at noon, as Kenya Livingston competes in the women’s high jump and Jackson Leech takes to the track for the men’s 5km.
