Lilly Lippeatt Named ACC Newcomer of the Week

ACC Release

Clemson, S.C. – After a nationally-ranked performance in the inaugural meet on Friday, Clemson gymnastics’ Lilly Lippeatt has been named the ACC Newcomer of the Week, as voted on by the league office. Lippeatt’s honor is the first in history for the Tigers’ brand-new program.

Lippeatt competed in three events on Friday night, scoring above a 9.700 in all three in her collegiate debut. The redshirt freshman came out of the gate strong with a 9.900 on bars to win the event, the first 9.900 in school history. She followed that performance with a 9.750 on beam and a 9.825 on floor, for a solid first-ever meet as a collegiate gymnast.

Lippeatt’s 9.900 gave the Tigers a 49.225 team score on bars, with earned Clemson a No. 15 national ranking. The Tigers are currently ranked 19th overall and their 196.325 against William & Mary is the highest score posted by any team in the first meet of its inaugural season.

The Tigers return to action on Sunday, January 21, opening ACC competition against Pitt in a meet set to be broadcast on the ACC Network at 4:00 p.m.
