CLEMSON, S.C. — Calahan Keever (Greenville, S.C./Eastside), the No. 6 Division II golfer in the nation by Golfstat, will transfer to Clemson for the 2023-24 academic year. Clemson Head Coach Jordan Byrd made the announcement on Wednesday.
“We are excited to be adding such an experienced player to our team,” said Byrd. “Calahan is a high character player who just keeps improving each and every week.”
Keever is one of the reasons Anderson University is ranked as the No. 1 Division II team in the nation by the Golf Coaches Association. For the year, he has a 70.28 stroke average for his six tournaments and 18 rounds. His 2022-23 season has included nine rounds in the 60s, 11 under-par rounds and 13 total rounds at par or better.
Keever’s season included establishing a pair of Anderson University golf records. He set the school mark for 54-hole score when he had a 17-under-par 199 in winning the LMU Spring Kickoff in February. His final round nine-under-par 63 broke the school record for one round by three shots.
Keever, finished in a tie for first place at the Mizuno Intercollegiate to open the season when he had a then-school-record 206 for the three rounds. He lost in a playoff. Overall, Keever has four top 10s and five top 15 finishes in six events this year in helping Anderson to four team victories this year.
Just last weekend, Keever might have had his best performance when he finished third at the Azalea Amateur in Charleston, an amateur tournament with a national field. Keever had rounds of 68-64-70-72 for a 274 total for his four rounds.
Keever attended Eastside High School in Greenville, S.C. where he also lettered in football and basketball.
