Justin Moore Named ACC Player of the Week

Sept. 27, 2004

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clemson’s Justin Moore was tabbed Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week after leading the Tigers to their first conference victory of the season downing NC State, 4-3 in overtime last Friday night.

Moore tallied five points including his first two goals of the season and the game-winning assist in overtime. After Clemson trailed the Wolfpack 1-0 at halftime, the junior defender got the Tigers on the board in the 50th minute netting his first goal of the season.

The Snellville, Ga. native countered with his second goal of the game, the third Tiger goal of the second half, in the 82nd minute to give Clemson the 3-2 lead. The lead was short lived as NC State scored just two minutes later to tie the game and send it into overtime.

In the first overtime period, Moore found freshman Havird Usry for the game-winner and a 4-3 Clemson win at home over NC State. Moore became just the second defender under head coach Trevor Adair to tally two goals in a single match.

Moore and the Tigers are back in action this week as they host Gardner Webb on Tuesday and then welcome Virginia Tech and Hofstra on Friday and Sunday, respectively for the Clemson Invitational at Riggs Field.
