Josipa Bek, Keri Wong Named to All-ACC Tennis Team

April 21, 2011

GREENSBORO, NC – Clemson women’s tennis players Josipa Bek and Keri Wong have been named to the 2011 All-ACC Tennis team as announced by the league office on Thursday. The team is decided by a vote of the league’s head coaches. It is the third honor for Bek, and the second straight for Wong.

Bek, in earning her third straight honor, is 30-10 in her junior season and is ranked 10th in the nation by the ITA computer rankings. Bek owns the school record for career three-set wins with 29, and her 92 total career wins rank eighth in school history. Bek owns a 15-9 mark against ranked opponents this season.

It is the second straight honor for Wong, who is ranked No. 45 in the nation, and boasts an 8-3 mark in league play this season. Wong is 9-6 against ranked players this season, and has won seven straight ACC matches.

As good as they have been individually, it is their performance as a doubles team that has raised many eyebrows. At 27-8 overall and ranked 5th in the nation, the duo spent four weeks in the No. 1 spot in the doubles rankings. Bek owns a 33-10 overall mark, just two wins shy of the single-season school mark set by Ina Hadziselimovic last season. Wong boasts a 32-11 mark as well.

In terms of career doubles wins, Bek ranks tied for 8th with 88, while Wong’s 84 rank 12th in school history.

Clemson opens play in the 2011 ACC Tournament Thursday against Virginia Tech at 3:00 pm in Cary, NC.
