Jersey Numbers Assigned

By D.J. Gordon –

The Clemson football program will officially welcome over 20 new Tigers to the team when camp begins next week, and a major aspect of becoming a newly-minted collegiate athlete is receiving your jersey number – which friends, family members and fans will recognize for years to come.

Cannon Smith, tight end and son of former Tiger and 1981 National Champion Bill Smith, will don his father’s #84. Additionally, Steve Fuller’s #4 will come out of retirement for new Tiger quarterback Deshaun Watson. Watson’s jersey will be adorned with a patch on the right chest to honor Fuller.

The 2014 recruiting class will be numbered as follows: WR Trevion Thompson (#1); WR Artavis Scott (#3); Deshaun Watson (#4); WR Demarre Kitt (#8); WR Kyrin Priester (#17); RB Adam Choice (#26); LB Kendall Joseph (#34); S Jefferie Gibson (#38); RB Kurt Fleming (#40); LB Korie Rogers (#43); LB Chris Register (#45); PK Alex Spence (#47); DE Richard Yeargin (#49); OL Justin Falcinelli (#50); OL Taylor Hearn (#51); TE Milan Richard (#80); Cannon Smith (#84); DT Jabril Robinson (#96).

Jersey numbers for several invited walk-ons will be determined next week.

Furthermore, several current players will be seen in new numbers to start the 2014 season. Along with his new position, safety T.J. Green will change from #82 to #15. Quarterback Nick Schuessler will switch from number #3 to #12, wideout Adrien Dunn will move from #35 to #82 and fellow wide receiver Andrew Maass will switch from #82 to #84. Offensive lineman Harrison Tucker moves from #51 to #60 and recent quarterback transfer from Stanford, David Olson, will don #10.
