CLEMSON, S.C. –The Clemson track and field program is set to kick off 2023 by hosting the Clemson Invite beginning on Friday, Jan. 13 and concluding on Saturday, Jan. 14. The meet will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday and pause at 5 p.m., and continue at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday with its conclusion coming after the men’s 4×400 relay at 2:55 p.m.
Including Clemson, 17 schools will be competing in the meet this weekend, including several notable programs such as Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and ACC foes in Georgia Tech and Florida State. The Clemson Invite was named the top NCAA meet of the weekend to watch by NCAA.com. It marks the second of four home meets for the Tigers, and seven total competitions prior to the ACC Championship Meet in Louisville, Ky. on Feb. 23. All four of Clemson’s home meets were singled out as top meets to watch on NCAA.com.
The Tigers will be looking to build off an impressive showing at the Clemson Opener in December. Wanya McCoy highlighted the brilliant meet with a facility record 32.53 second time in the 300 meter dash. That mark was good for the third-best in NCAA history. His performance, along with those of throwers Daniel Cope and Marie Forbes, earned ACC performer of the week honors.
Admission to the meet is free to the public, with parking available in Jervey Meadows.
