CLEMSON – A total of 16,320 donors contributed a record $29.1 million to the IPTAY Annual Fund and IPTAY raised $56.6 million during the 2015-16 year, IPTAY CEO Davis Babb announced Tuesday. The annual giving record is a 14% increase over the previous high set last year and a 29% increase from 2014-15.
The overall total of $56.6 million includes annual fund dollars along with $19 million in major gifts, $4.3 million in premium seating and $4.2 million of planned giving.
IPTAY and Clemson Athletics provided $13.32 million directly to the university during the 2015-16 academic year. The total includes $10.7 million in scholarships, $1.43 million in general university support, $258,000 for the band for regular season and an additional $688,000 for postseason, as well as $250,000 provided to the president’s need-based scholarship fund.
“The excitement surrounding our athletic programs and IPTAY initiatives is undeniable right now, and the Clemson Family has been overwhelmingly generous in their support of our programs,” Babb said. “Through the great gifts of our IPTAY donors, we continue to provide scholarship opportunities, academic support and facility improvements for each of our student-athletes.”
“IPTAY continues to set the standard in supporting student-athletes, and our athletics programs benefit both on and off the field from our donors’ great contributions,” Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich said.
Over the past two years, IPTAY has generated $116.7 million in cash donations and pledges.
Originally, the letters IPTAY stood for “I pay ten a year.” Begun in 1934 to give the Clemson athletic program the support it needed, IPTAY is now one of the most successful athletic fundraising organizations in the nation. IPTAY donors provide millions of dollars in scholarships for student-athletes and non-athletes alike. It also has provided substantial support for programs and facilities that help Clemson Athletics stay competitive in collegiate sports.
