Historic Riggs Field Renovation Update

Progress has begun on renovations to Historic Riggs Field. The improvements will be focused on the north side of Clemson’s soccer complex and will include a pedestrian bridge that provides a new entrance into the stadium, improved safety for pedestrians along Highway 93 and a memorial to Clemson legend Walter Merritt Riggs. Additionally, the north stands of the stadium will be reconstructed and elevated, enhancing what is already one of the premier facilities in all of college soccer.

Historic Riggs Field is the fifth oldest collegiate athletic facility in the nation, has served as the home to several Clemson athletic teams (e.g. football, baseball, track, tennis, soccer), and has undergone several changes and improvements over its 98 years of existence.  It is currently home to the Clemson men’s and women’s soccer teams.  Recent renovations to the locker rooms, reconstruction of the press box and inclusion of a video board have pre-dated the current project in Clemson’s plans to continually improve the experiences of its soccer student-athletes and fans.
