Clemson, S.C. – Two Clemson freshmen were recognized as 2019 All-ACC award winners, announced by the conference office on Thursday. Midfielder Hal Hershfelt and forward Maliah Morris joined players from Boston College, Duke, Florida State, NC State, North Carolina, Pitt and Virginia on the eleven-member All-Freshman Team.
Hal Hershfelt wasted no time in making an impact for the Tigers, scoring Clemson’s first goal of the season in her first collegiate game against Utah. Throughout the 2019 season she has recorded three goals and two assists with all of her goals coming in game-winning fashion. During her first season she has played and started in all but one game in Clemson’s midfield.
Maliah Morris ranked third among the team for points after participating in eleven games in her first season with the Tigers. She recorded her first collegiate points in her second-career game, scoring the game-winner and adding an assist on the night. With four goals and two assists on the year she totaled the most points among Clemson freshman with 10. In addition to her points total, she led the team for shots and shares a tie for game-winning-goals with fellow award winner Hershfelt with three. Most notably, she recorded the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over No. 7 South Carolina, giving Clemson their first victory over the Gamecocks in four years and earning herself ACC Offensive Player of the Week.
