MacIver Named to MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List

CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson senior goalkeeper Sandy MacIver was named to the watch list for the 2019 MAC Hermann Trophy, the United Soccer Coaches announced Thursday.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in NCAA Division I soccer and is presented annually to the top male and female performers of the year.

During her most recent campaign, MacIver started in all 17 matches she appeared in and logged over 1,500 minutes. She was chosen as a Third-Team All-ACC member, 2018 All-ACC Academic Team selection, and the United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region First Team.

MacIver additionally posted eight of Clemson’s nine shutouts on the year and allowed only 15 goals, good for a .87 goals against average.

Outside of Clemson, MacIver has made a notable impact on the international stage. She helped the U20 England team make history as they claimed the bronze medal at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in France. Her six starts and 38 saves throughout the World Cup earned her the ADIDAS Golden Glove award for the top goalkeeper throughout the tournament.

“It is wonderful recognition for Sandy and for Clemson women’s soccer for her to be named to the Watch List,” head coach Eddie Radwanski stated on the honor. “Sandy has put in a lot of effort over these three years and I think her senior year is going to be her best one yet.”

MacIver is one of four goalkeepers added to the 61-member watch list and is one of two goalkeepers representing the ACC.
