Hannah Posts 17 Kills in Sweep Over Boston College

RALEIGH, N.C. – Clemson outside hitter Camryn Hannah posted a match-high 17 kills on 36 swings to hit .333 in the Tigers’ 3-0 (26-24, 25-16, 25-20) sweep over Boston College in Reynolds Coliseum Saturday afternoon. With the win, Clemson improved to 11-8 overall and 5-7 in ACC play, while the Eagles fell to 1-10 overall and 0-10 in league play.

Clemson setter Mckenna Slavik collected her ninth double-double of the season with 30 assists and 10 digs, while libero Caitlyn Meeks tied for a match-high 15 digs. 

Clemson and the Eagles traded points back and forth in the beginning of the first set until the Tigers gained momentum and earned a 5-1 run to secure a 16-11 lead. Boston College followed that up with a 5-0 run of its own with the help of a handful of Tiger errors to tie the match, 16-16. However, Hannah’s seventh and eighth kills of the set in addition to an Eagle error sealed the set No. 1 win for the Tigers, 26-24.

Clemson carried its momentum into the second, leaping out to a 5-1 lead and prompting the Eagles to take an early timeout. Boston College tied the set, 9-9, but the Tigers never lost the lead throughout the rest of set No. 2. Mckenna Slavik’s fourth kill of the match gave Clemson the game, 25-16, and a 2-0 lead heading into the break. Freshman outside hitter Cate Long posted seven of her nine total digs in Saturday’s second game.

Coming out of the break, The Tigers secured a 7-6 advantage and clung to their lead for the remainder of the third and final set. Clemson received a boost from Solei Thomas’ three kills and .600 hitting percentage in the third, increasing Clemson’s hitting efficiency to .296 for set No. 3. An ace by Long and a kill by Hannah sealed the 25-20 third set win and match for the Tigers.

Up next, Clemson (11-8, 5-7 ACC) returns to action on Friday to take on Notre Dame (11-2, 10-2) in Purcell Pavilion at 6 p.m. The match is scheduled to air on ACCNX.
