Hall to Return to Clemson Football Team

Clemson tight end Ben Hall, a starter in seven of 13 games in 2002, will return to the Tiger football team for the 2003 season. He made the announcement in a statement released on Friday.

Hall, a native of Wellford and graduate of Byrnes High School, did not participate in Spring practice and had stated that he did not plan on returning to Clemson for next season. A junior in 2003, Hall caught 12 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown in 2002. He was a third-team freshman All-America tight end according to The Sporting News in 2001 when he caught eight passes, including three for touchdowns, a record for a Clemson first-year freshman. He has played in 25 consecutive games over two years.

“Ben will be allowed to return to the Clemson program, but he will have to satisfy some disciplinary measures in the off-season,” said head coach Tommy Bowden. “He missed all of spring practice and will have to work his way back up the depth chart.”

“I wish to thank Coach Bowden for allowing me to return to the team,” said Hall. “I regret that I left the team in March, and I have learned some valuable lessons along the way. I will perform any disciplinary tasks, and will work as hard as I can to make a positive contribution to the Clemson team in 2003.”
